Drunk on Life

Drunk on life, I wanted to soar.
Soar and soar till I could soar no more.
The greatest height in life
Was where I wanted to go.
I knew not where it was, this height,
I knew not how far,
If the eagles could reach it, why couldn’t I?

So saying, I spread my arms wide
A deep breath later, I jumped up high!
I took in the fresh air, I took in the sun
I touched the clouds, the air flew by.
Nothing can stop me, I said.
Nothing at all.
If the eagles could do it, why couldn’t I?

I soared and soared and I opened my eyes
Oh what had I done, I was flying high!
My heart trembled, my pulse raced
Drunk on life, I jumped from above?
Nothing could stop me, of course,
Since there was no ground
But those eagles..those eagles took my mind.

I flailed my hands, I cycled mid air
Levitating, I uttered a prayer
Where is the ground, oh where is it?
I screamed a curse, that salt-rimmed glass
Brought eagles into my mind.
Save me save me while I fell fast
And yelled ‘Mammaaaaaaa!’
